How to Be Creative

Following up on some of the most recent posts regarding how to be more effective, I came across this opinion piece on how to be creative. Not that cartoonist Hugh Macleod has a specific answer for your particular situation, but he gets several useful points across on how to increase the chances to be creative, or phrased differently, how to unleash your creativity.

“Doing anything worthwhile takes forever. 90% of what separates successful people and failed people is time, effort, and stamina” is just one of many points he elaborates on.

Principles of Effective Research

Fellow medicinal chemist Derek Lowe highlighted on his site a recent piece by Michael Nielsen on Principles of Effective Research.

Nielsen, a physicist, deconstructs in his essay the ideal of research, or more precisely what goes into effective research. Obviously, if you are in research - especially in academia - you should read it, but I found that it applies to the larger field of business just as well. Read more
